ROHINGYA-CRISIS-CHALLENGE
Repatriation of Rohingyas basic to South Asian equilibrium
DHAKA, Feb 12, 2019 (BSS) – The international community must keep Myanmar
under pressure to let the Rohingyas in to maintain stability in South Asia,
said participants at a roundtable discussion.
The roundtable ‘Rohingya Crisis-Global Challenge’ was arranged by the
Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB) at its office in Kakrail.
“Quick repatriation is required to minimise socio-economic loss to the
state and to ward off internal and external challenges in future. This is
rather a global challenge than an internal …The government is looking for a
solution to end the crisis soon,” said Md. Delwar Hossain, the Director
General of the South Asian Desk of the Foreign Ministry, while speaking as
chief guest.
Delwar said that Bangladesh has established an instance of humanity in the
world by sheltering the persecuted Rohingyas despite its many limitations.
Presided over by Dr. Md Jasim Uddin, Deputy Managing Director of Palli
Karma Shahayak Foundation (PKSF), the main article was jointly presented by
Law Professor Christine Jubb and Dr. Mohsin Habib of International Business
Programme of Swinburne University, Australia.
Chairman of the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies, Dhaka University,
Principal of Technical Teachers’ Training College and Dhaka Polytechnic
Institute were, among others, present at the meeting.
