Microbus catches in fire, kills three in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Feb 12, 2019 (BSS) – Three people were killed as a microbus
caught on fire after a collision with a covered van in Nizampur College area
under Mirsarai upazila here this morning.

The deceased were identified as Abdur Rahman, 65, and his wife Kulsum
Begum, 55, and their driver Ruhul Amin, 35, said officer-in-charge of
Mirsarai police station Jahidul Kabir.

The OC said Rahman and Kulsum along with their family members were heading
towards Chattogram from Monohorganj upazila of Cumilla to receive their
expatriate son upon his arrival at Shah Amanat International Airport.

When the microbus reached Nizampur College area around 7:30am, the bus hit
a covered van as its driver lost control over the steering, said Jashim
Uddin, deputy assistant director of the Chattogram Fire Service and Civil
Defence, adding that as soon as the collision took place, the gas cylinder of
the bus exploded and the bus caught on fire killing three people dead on the
spot and injuring two others. Inured Rony, 12, and Rasel, 10, grandsons of
Rahman, were rescued from the blazing vehicle and sent to a hospital in
critical state.

A case filed with Mirsari thana in this connection.
