DHAKA, Feb 12, 2019 (BSS) – The ruling Awami League (AL) General Secretary and also Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said BNP and Jamaat share identical thoughts and spirits.

“Neither BNP nor Jamaat will leave each other as both the political parties have almost similar thoughts and spirits. They might split as part of a tactic,” he said, replying to a query at his ministry’s conference room at the Secretariat here.

Coming down heavily on BNP and Jamaat, he said, “I believe both BNP and Jamaat are communal parties and they are very much closer to each other in terms of thoughts, ideals and spirits.”

Regarding BNP’s decision of not taking part in upcoming upazila elections, he said, “We have no headache which party is going to join or boycott the upazila elections as the aspirants can take part in the polls independently without party symbols.”

“To the best of my knowledge, BNP aspirants will take part in the elections in many places independently. We have to wait for the last date of submitting nomination papers (to say the last word) as there is enough time in this respect,” he also said.

Asked about BNP’s allegation of holding one-sided election to DUCSU, the AL leader said, “Where is the scope to interfere in the DUCSU election? Is there anyone to seize the centre? Is there any scope to manipulate the election? The voting in the DUCSU election will be held openly.”

“Regarding this election, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal will follow the order of BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman as it is loyal to him,” he added.
