All UZs to be brought under 100pc electricity coverage by 2019: Nasrul
SANGSAD BHABAN, Feb 11, 2019 (BSS) – State Minister for Power, Energy and
Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid today said all upazilas would be brought under
100 percent electricity coverage by the end of this year.
“Around 80-90 percent power coverage is being ensured for all upazilas,
while 100 percent coverage would be attained by December 2019,” he said while
replying to a supplementary question from treasury bench member Panchanan
Biswas in the Jatiya Sangsad.
The state minister said the government is working to implement a plan for
ensuring 100 percent power coverage across the country, he said adding, “To
fulfill the target, we are working to bring off grid areas under power
coverage. Meanwhile we have given around 2.50 lakh power connections at
Sandwip using the seabed.”
Responding to another supplementary question from treasury bench member
Anwarul Abedin Khan, Nasrul said the government has brought 93 percent people
under electricity facility.
Besides, he said the government has been working to ensure uninterrupted
electricity during the rainy season, he informed the House, replying to
another supplementary question from treasury bench member Razi Mohammad
Fakhrul.
