Schedule for DUCSU polls announced

DHAKA, Feb 11, 2019 (BSS) – After a gap of nearly three decades,
authorities today announced the schedule for the Dhaka University Central
Students’ Union (DUCSU) scheduled for March 11.

In line with the constitution of DUCSU, the election will be held for 25
central posts of DUCSU while 13 posts for each hall.

Election to the DUCSU and hall unit will held from 8am to 2pm without any
break, said Chief Returning Officer of DUCSU polls Prof Mahfuzur Rahman while
announcing the schedule at a press briefing at Nawab Nabab Ali Chowdhury
Senate Bhaban on DU campus today.

As per the election schedule, the aspirants can collect nomination papers
from their respective halls from 10 am to 4 pm everyday from February 19 to
25.

The last date of submitting nomination papers is February 26 till 12 noon
on the day. The papers will be scrutinised from 2 pm on February 26 while the
last date of withdrawing nomination paper is March 2 till 1 pm.

The final candidates’ list for DUCSU and hall union election will be
published on the notice board of all dormitories and university website
ducsu.du.ac.bd at 4 pm on March 3.

The draft voter list will be published on February 20 while supplementary
voter list will be published on March 5 on the halls’ notice boards and the
website.

The students could exercise their franchises at their respective hall’s
voting centres by showing their ID cards.

The 25 post for DUCSU election are: Vice-President (VP), general secretary
(GS), joint-secretary, liberation war affairs secretary, science and
technology secretary, common room and cafeteria secretary, international
affairs secretary, literature secretary, cultural secretary, sports
secretary, students’ transport secretary, social service secretary and other
13 executive members.

The last elections to DUCSU and hall unions were held in 1990.
