Programme on Dr Wazed’s birthday

RANGPUR, Feb 10, 2018 (BSS) -Dr Wazed Smriti Sangsad (DWSS) has finalised a programme to celebrate the 76th birthday of renowned nuclear scientist Dr MA Wazed Miah, also the husband of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, here on February 15 and 16 next.

The two-day programme was finalised at a meeting of the executive committee of DWSS held at its temporary office on the second floor of Press Club Complex on Friday night, a press release said today.

President of DWSS and noted educationist professor Dr Hamidul Haque Khondker presided over the meeting moderated by its general secretary and senior journalist Saiful Islam Jahangir.

Joint secretaries of DWSS Advocate Rothish Chandra Bhowmick Babu Sona and Elahi Farooque, Assistant Organising Secretary Tanvir Ahmed Ashrafi, Law Affairs Secretary Advocate Sajjadur Rahman Shanju, Women Affairs Secretary Tahmina Shirin Nipa, assistant office secretary of DWSS Ali Jahur Mantu, Literary Affairs Secretary Basher Ibne Jahur, Publicity Secretary Chandan Sarker, among others, addressed the meeting.

The programme included drawing and descent hand writing competition, poem recitation competition and patriotic song competition for the children will be held at 3 pm on the Town Hall premises on February 15 next.

The children and students of different educational institutions and socio-cultural organisations can take part in the competition.

On February 16, leaders of the DWSS will place wreaths at the grave of Dr Wazed Miah, arrange Ziarat and offer Fateha in his birthplace village of Laldighee Fatehpur under Pirganj upazila in the district at 8 am.

Milad and doa mahfils will be arranged and special munajats be offered at Keramotia Jam-e-Mosque after Asr prayers seeking eternal peace for the departed soul of Dr Wazed and well-being of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Saima Wazed Putul and their other family members.

A discussion on the life and deeds of Dr Wazed will be arranged at Town Hall auditorium at 6 pm on February 16 and prizes, crests and certificates will be distributed among winners of different competitions.

High officials, politicians, public representatives, renowned academicians, educationists, researchers, professionals, intellectuals, civil society members and elite will take part in the discussion.

Talking to BSS today, General Secretary of DWSS Saiful Islam Jahangir said the programme will remain open for the people from all walks in life and requested all to be present in the two-day programme to celebrate the birthday of Dr Wazed.
