Saraswati Puja celebrated in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Feb 10, 2019 (BSS) – The Sanaton community celebrated the
Saraswati Puja today through daylong programmes amid huge enthusiasm and due
religious fervour in all eight districts of the division.

A number of Puja mandaps, mandirs and educational institutions were
colourfully decorated and hundreds of devotees thronged there today to seek
blessings of the ‘Devi Saraswati’, the goddess of knowledge.

The devotees, especially students of different schools, colleges and
universities, attired in colourful dresses, offered special prayers and
observed fasting as per religious ritual to seek knowledge from the goddess
Saraswati.

In Rangpur city, images of goddess Saraswati, symbolising a graceful
woman, was erected at different Puja mandaps, mandirs, educational
institutions and makeshift places for worships.

The Saraswati Puja was celebrated at Dharmoshava Ashram, Laksmi Narayan
Zeu Shiva Mandir, Rothbari Sarak Sree Sree Poresh Mandir, Begum Rokeya
University, Rangpur Medical College, Begum Rokeya Government College,
Technical School, Carmichael College, Lions School and College, Samaj Kallyan
Biddya Bithi, Koilash Ranjan High School, Afan Ullah High School, Mahiganj
College, Government Teachers’ Training College, Zila School, Dental College
and other educational institutions.

The biggest celebrations were held at Rangpur Carmichael College where
thousands of students belonging to the Sanaton community thronged since the
morning.

The Saraswati Puja was also celebrated at Guptapara, Mahiganj, Mulatol,
Paulpara, Lalbag, Modern Mour, Tazhat, Boiragipara, Machuapara, Kallyanpara,
Shalban, Burima Mandir, Polytechnic Institute and other places in the city.

The puja celebration programmes included offering ‘Devi Aradhona’,
‘Puspoanjoli’, ‘archanas’, ‘anjolis’, ‘aratis’, ‘Prashad’ distribution,
‘Arati competitions’, discussions, cultural functions, staging of drama and
prize distribution.

On the occasion, Acting President of Rangpur district unit of Bangladesh
Puja Udjapon Parishad Ajoy Prasad Babon with Sanaton community leaders and
local Awami League leaders visited different Puja mandaps and educational
institutions.

Similar reports of celebrations of the Saraswati Puja were received here
from Lalmonirhat, Kurigram, Nilphamari, Gaibandha, Panchagarh, Thakurgaon and
Dinajpur districts of Rangpur division.
