RANGPUR, Feb 6, 2019 (BSS) – Government officials and anti-corruption activists at a function today said the ‘Satota’ store (integrity stores) would effectively help to produce honest generations and ideal citizens for building a corruption-free society.

They said this at the function organised by Rangpur District Combined Office of Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) at Town Hall here to distribute grants among secondary level schools for establishing ‘Satota’ stores in those educational institutions.

On the occasion, the District Combined Office of ACC distributed Taka 20.40-lakh among 68 secondary level educational institutions with Taka 30,000 each of Rangpur, Kurigram, Lalmonirhat and Gaibandha districts under its jurisdiction.

Divisional Commissioner Muhammad Joynul Bari attended the function and distributed the money as the chief guest.

Rangpur Divisional Director of ACC Moniruzzaman Khan and President of Rangpur District Corruption Prevention Committee Shushanto Chandra Khan addressed the function as special guests.

Deputy Director of Rangpur District Combined Office of ACC Sheikh Md. Fanafillah presided over the function moderated by General Secretary of Rangpur District Corruption Prevention Committee Akbar Hossain.

Members of Rangpur District Corruption Prevention Committee and representatives of ‘Satota’ stores from all 68 grant-recipient educational institutions were present.

The educational institutions will establish ‘Satota’ stores without sellers with the grants so that the students could collect their necessary goods by paying the price of the same from the stores practicing honesty and integrity since their childhood.

Divisional Director of ACC Moniruzzaman Khan said corruption is remaining as a major barrier to the path of progress. “If corruption was reduced by 50 percent in the country, the nation might witness additional two percent GDP growth taking it to double digit level,” he said and urged all, including teachers and students, to join the fight against corruption.

The chief guest said integrity stores being established by ACC in educational institutions would help to bring up young students as honest generations to ultimately eliminate the chronic disease of corruption permanently from the society.

“The initiative of establishing ‘Satota’ stores in educational institutions will help students to differentiate between right and wrong, promote their moral integrity and values of self-esteem and honesty to bring a change in the social mindset,” he said.
