Nurturing healthy culture stressed to entertain people

RANGPUR, Feb 5, 2019 (BSS) – Educationists and cultural personalities at a function here today underscored the need for speeding up nurturing of healthy Bengali culture to entertain the common people in building a more peaceful society.

They put special emphasis on forging unity among all progressive forces of the country to toward the direction of rooting out wicked enemies of the humanity like extremism, fundamentalism, militancy and terrorism.

They made these observations at the day-long third conference and cultural function of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) unit of Bangladesh Udichhi Shilpi Gosthi (BUSG) on the university campus in the city.

Language movement veteran Mohammad Afzal as the chief guest attended inaugural function moderated by noted Rabindra Sangeet artist Milan Bhattacharya.

Vice-president of BUSG’s central committee Professor Dr Swasswato Bhattacharyya, Associate Professor of the Department of Bengali of BRUR Dr Shafik Asharf, BSD leader Comrade Abdul Kuddus and CPB leader Comrade Shahin Rahman were present as special guests.

The chief guest with the invited guest formally inaugurated the conference and cultural function by hoisting of the national flag and organisational flag along with the artistes of BUSG amid rendering the national anthem.

Local leaders, activists and artists of BRUR unit of BUSG with socio-cultural, literary and political personalities, civil society members and elite brought out a colourful rally on the campus on the occasion.

Former President of BRUR unit of BUSG and convener of the conference organising committee Abdul Wadud Sadman presided over the post-rally brief discussion session.

The speakers put importance on nurturing of cultural activities and absolute unity among the secular forces as the fearful complexion of fundamentalism is still visible threatening the whole humanity in the globe.

Milan Bhattacharya urged the young generations and pro-liberation forces for working unitedly to build a secular Bangladesh free from fundamentalism, militancy, extremism and terrorism for establishing core spirit of the War of Liberation.

Mohammad Afzal stressed on nurturing healthy Bengali culture to save the young generations from the clutches of vested quarters involved with tempting the youths toward drug, militancy, terrorism and extremism.

In the evening, artists of BUSG recited poems, rendered popular songs and dances and staged drama entertaining hundreds of audience on the Central Shahid Minar premises of the university.
