IU teachers, students demand arrest of VC attackers
ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY, Jan 29, 2018 (BSS) – The teachers and students of
Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia today demanded immediate arrest of the
people who allegedly carried out an attack on IU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr M
Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari on Friday.
They came up with the demand at a protest rally and a human chain
progarmme on the campus around 10.30 am.
IU Pro-VC Prof Dr M Shahinoor Rahman, Treasurer Prof Dr M Selim Toha,
Secretary of IU Rover Scout Group Prof Dr Ruhul KM Saleh, Chief Coordinating
Officer of BNCC Prof Dr M Jahangir Hossain, Proctor Prof Dr M Mahbubar
Rahman, among others, spoke at the human chain programme.
They also demanded exemplary punishment of the attackers.
Besides, Shapla Forum, a progressive teachers’ alliance of the
university, held another human chain programme on the premises of the
‘Mrittunjoyee Mujib’ mural, demanding immediate arrest of the attackers.

Department, Prof Dr M Mahbubar Rahman of Electrical and Electronics
Engineering Department, Prof Dr M Anwar Hossain of Islamic History and
Culture Department, Prof Dr Mohm Anwarul Haque of Biotechnology and Genetic
Engineering Department, Prof Dr M Shahadat Hossain Azad of English Department
and more than hundreds teachers of various departments took part in the
programme.
