School students throng Ekushy book fair

DHAKA, Feb 4, 2019 (BSS) – A large number of people, especially the school students, today thronged the month-long Ekushey Book Fair being held on the Bangla Academy premises and Suhrawardi Udyan in the city.

The students were seen visiting different stalls and buying books of different authors, including noted writers Humayun Ahmed and Syed Shamsul Haque.

Kiron Miah of Onno Prokash told BSS that a large number of students today bought different books from his stall. A total of 12 new books have come in their stall, but the books of Humayun Ahmed are being sold out more comparing to other books, he said.

According to Bangla Academy, different dictionaries are on the best-seller list followed by Asamapta Atmajiboni (The Unfinished Memoirs) and Karagarer Rojnamcha written by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The people are also buying different scientific and Liberation War related books.

Shabnam Mushtari Rimjhim, a student of class-four of Ideal School and College, Motijheel in the city, told BSS, “I like to read Liberation War related books. This year, I also bought Liberation War related books”.

However, a total of 141 new books hit the fair today raising the total number 358 on the fourth day of the fair.

Professor Rehman Sobhan inaugurated the stall of Center for Policy Dialogue (CPD) on the Bangla Academy premises.
