Sylhet railway station to be modernized: Minister
SANGSAD BHABAN, Feb 4, 2019 (BSS) – Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan today
said the government would build the Sylhet railway station as a modern and
international standard station.
“Sylhet railway station would be a modern and international standard station
under “Akhaura-Sylhet Existing Railway Line into Dual Gauge” project,” the
minister said while replying to a starred question from treasury bench Mahmood
us Samad Chowdhury of Sylhet-3 in the Jatiya Sangsad.
The minister said the present government has been implementing various
projects to make Bangladesh Railway into safe, cost effective and environment
friendly mode of communication along with time befitting and modern one.
Sujan informed the House that Bangladesh Railways has signed an agreement with
a construction firm with an outlay of Taka 78.84 lakh aimed at repairing
Sylhet Railway Station, adding, “Modernization and repair work of Sylhet
Railway Station is undergoing.”
