Ekushey book fair becomes vibrant with huge crowds
DHAKA, Feb 3, 2019 (BSS) -On the third day today the “Amar Ekushey Grantha Mela-2019” wore a festive look with a vibrant presence of book lovers, projecting diversified Bengali literature and different forms of art and culture.
With huge enthusiasm and curiosity, thousands of visitors of all ages flocked to different stalls and pavilions to find out books of their beloved writers.
The stall attendants were seen busy dealing with the visitors and big smiles flashed on the faces of the publishers as a good number of crowd thronged to different stalls and pavilions.
The month-long book fair began on February 1 on the premises of Bangla Academy and its adjoining Suhrawardy Udyan in the city.
The arrival of 138 new books was witnessed today meaning the total number of new books stood at 219 till the third day of the fair, Bangla Academy sources said.
Among the published books which marked today include- 22 novel books, 20 story books, 17 poetry books, 11 essay books and 10 research books, a Bangla Academy press release said.
Writers, booklovers and publishers observed that the Amar Ekushey Book has now become a festival of all ages of people. This is a great success of the book fair, they added.
The book fair will remain open for all from 3pm to 9pm on working days and 11am to 9pm on government holidays. It will continue till February 28.
