NARAYANGANJ, Jan 29, 2018 (BSS) – A court here today sentenced two persons to death for killing 7-year-old child Maksudul Islam Tuhin in Araihazar upazila of the district in 2015.
Additional District and Sessions Judge M Ali Hossain pronounced the verdict in presence of the convicted persons, a court official said.
The death row convicts are Billal Hossain and his son Mahfuzul Islam, residents of the same area and relatives of the victim.
According to prosecution, the convicted persons abducted Tuhin, a second grade school student and son of one village doctor Nasiruddin of Kandapara village, while he was playing in a field near their house on May 9 in 2015.
On the same day, his father filed a written complaint with Araihazar police station.
Later on May 12, police detained Tuhin’s cousin Mahfuzul from Narsingdi in this connection and he confessed to the crime in the interrogation.
Police recovered the body of Tuhin from inside a drum at Bogadi village after Mahfujul’s confessional statement.
The judge examining 12 witnesses and evidences announced the judgment.
