National Food Safety Day observed

DHAKA, Feb 2, 2019 (BSS) – National Food Safety Day was observed today
across the country with a call to prevent food adulteration and ensure safe
food for all.

This year’s theme of the day was “Sustho-Sobol Jati Chai, Pushtisommoto
Nirapod Khadder Bikolpo Nai” (Need a Healthy Nation, There is no Alternative
to Nutritious, Safe Food).

President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday issued
separate messages on the eve of the day, urging all to join the movement for
safe food.

The President laid emphasis on nutritious and safe food for ensuring public
health as food contamination is a threat to human health, which may cause
diseases like cancer, kidney failure and disabilities.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in her message, reiterated her government’s
commitment to safeguard the health of the people.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to attend a function organized at
Krishibid Institute Bangladesh, Farmgate tomorrow morning marking the day.

Meanwhile, a colorful rally was brought out and a rally was held afterwards
marking the day in Khulna.

Khulna City Corporation Mayor Talukder Abdul Khalek addressed the rally
held at Khulna Circuit House Auditorium.

Presided over by Khulna deputy commissioner Mohammad Helal Hossain, the
rally was also addressed by additional deputy inspector general of police Md
Habibur Rahman, regional food controller Dr SM Muhsin and Khulna Press Club
president SM Habib, among others.
