Speaker pays homage to Bangabandhu at Tungipara

DHAKA, Feb 1, 2019 (BSS) – Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury today paid homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at his shrine at Tungipara.

After taking oath as a Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad for three consecutive terms on Wednesday, Dr Shirin Sharmin showed the deepest respect by placing wreaths at his graveyard, said a press release.

After laying wreaths, Chaudhury stood there in solemn silence for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memory of the architect of the independence.

During this time, she also recalled the four national leaders- who were killed in jail in 1975, 30 lakh martyrs and two lakh war veteran women, martyrs of August 15 in 1975 and all the martyrs who had been sacrificed their lives in all the democratic movement since the language movement in 1952.

Besides, Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi Miah paid tribute by placing wreaths to Father of the Nation.

Newly appointed Chief Whip Nur-E Alam Chowdhury, Whips Mohammad Atiur Rahman Atique, Panchanon Biswas, Iqbalur Rahim, Mahbub Ara Begum Gini, Shamsul Haq Chowdhury and Abu Sayeed Al Mahmud Shawpan also paid tributes on the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

They also offered munajat seeking eternal peace of departed souls.

Later, they offered munajat for the soul of Elias Ahmed Chowdhury (dada Bhai), father of Chief Whip Nur-E Alam Chowdhury at Duttapara under Shibchar Upazila.
