Dr Dipu Moni gets UK’s ‘Leading Women’ recognition

DHAKA, Jan 31, 2019 (BSS) – Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni received ‘the Leading Women’ recognition by the University of London during the 150th anniversary celebrations of women’s enrollment in the university education on January 29 in London.

The Chancellor of the University Princess Anne while conferring the recognition mentioned about the extraordinary accomplishment of Dr Dipu Moni among one of the three successful contemporary women who graduated from the University, according to a message received here today.

“It is indeed a rare honour for Bangladeshi women and Bangladesh led by our dynamic woman Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina”, said Bangladesh High Commissioner Saida Muna Tasneem while commenting to the press.

Earlier, the University of London published a list of 150 most accomplished and leading women who graduated from the University. Those include, among others, Margaret Thatcher- the first female Prime Minster of the UK, Mary Robinson- first female President of Ireland, Patricia Scotland- Secretary-General of the Commonwealth and the first black British female to become a QC.
