Hygienic sewerage management for clean environment stressed
RANGPUR, Jan 31, 2019 (BSS) – Experts at an orientation workshop have
stressed on engaging coordinated efforts to ensure hygienic sanitation,
drainage and sewerage managements for maintaining clean environment in
Rangpur city.
They said this at a daylong event arranged for members of the Water,
Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Coordination Platform’ held at conference room
of Rangpur City Corporation (RpCC) here on Wednesday, a press release said
here today.
The RpCC with assistance of the UNICEF organised the event participated by
officials and representatives of RpCC, different government and non-
government organisations involved in the drainage and sewerage managements of
Rangpur city.
Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa attended the event as the chief
guest with Chief Executive Officer of RpCC Akhter Hossain Azad in the chair
while Chief of Rangpur and Rajshahi Regional Field Office of UNICEF
Najibullah Hameem attended as special guest.
Secretary of RpCC Abu Saleh Md Musa Jongi, its Superintending Engineer
Amdad Hossain, WASH Officer of UNICEF Ruhul Amin and Project Manager of
Sustainable Urban Wash Programme of Eco Social Development Organisation ATM
Ruhul Islam, also spoke.
Akhter Hossain Azad said comprehensive programmes are being implemented
with GO-NGO collaboration to ensure supply of pure drinking water, hygienic
sanitation facilities, eco-friendly drainage and sewerage systems for all
citizen of Rangpur city.
Amdad Hossain stressed on ensuring better coordination among the officials,
employees and cleaning workers of different organisations involved in
implementing water supply, sanitation and drainage and sewerage management
programmes in the city.
The chief guest thanked all government, non-government and donor
organisations for extending sincere assistance in ensuring proper managements
in water supply, sanitation and sewerage sectors to improve health, hygiene
and environment in the city.
He put emphasis on ensuring better coordination among all concerned for
timely completion of the ongoing development programmes to ensure pure
drinking water, hygienic sanitation and sewerage systems for every citizen in
the city.
