Popularisation of science-based education underscored

RANGPUR, Jan 30, 2019 (BSS) – Popularisation of science-based modern
education among the youngsters has become crucial to accelerate national
advancement on way to build a developed country.

Government officials and educationist made these observations at the
concluding function of a day-long science affairs seminar held at Bir
Muktijoddha Tipu Munshi auditorium in Kawnia upazila town here on Tuesday
afternoon.

The upazila administration with assistance of the National Museum for
Science and Technology organised the seminar to attract the young students in
science-based education for more innovations to further accelerate national
development.

Teachers and students of secondary level educational institutions of
Kawnia upazila participated in the seminar arranged with the theme of
“Science education is the driving force in building a science-minded nation.”

Kawnia Upazila Nirbahi Officer SM Nazia Sultana attended the seminar as
the chief guest with Upazila Secondary Education Officer Md Zakir Hossain in
the chair.

Assistant Upazila Secondary Education Officer Zakirul Hassan, Headmasters
Fazlur Rahman, Faker Sarker, Ramjan Ali and Minhajul Islam and Assistant
Headmaster Rangad Chandra Barman of different high schools addressed as
special guests.

The speakers put maximum importance on spreading science- and technology-
based modern education and knowledge among the young generations for
attaining sustainable national development.

They said popularisation of science- and ICT-based education has become a
prerequisite to attain self-sufficiency in all spheres for building a middle
income nation by 2021 and a developing country by 2024 on way to build a
developed Bangladesh by 2041.

The chief guest said the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh
Hasina puts maximum importance on popularising science-, technology- and
knowledge- based modern education for attaining sustainable national
development.

“Teachers of the secondary level educational institutions can play the
most vital role to make various programmes taken by the government successful
in building a science minded nation for faster development in all sectors,”
she said.
