Comprehensive efforts to increase revenue earning stressed

RANGPUR, Jan 26, 2019 (BSS) – Comprehensive and well-coordinated efforts of all concerned are required to increase revenue earning for strengthening the national economy and accelerating the pace of national development.

The views were expressed today at a post-rally discussion organised by Banglabandha Land Customs Station at the conference room of Banglabandha Land Port in Tentulia upazila of Panchagarh in observance of the International Customs Day- 2018.

Earlier, a large number of officials and employees of Banglabandha Land Customs Station, Customs Clearing and Forwarding Agents, labourers, civil society members and local elite participated in the rally that paraded different streets.

With Revenue Officer Banglabandha Land Customs Station Md. Mizanul Haque in the chair, its Deputy Commissioner Hafizul Islam addressed the discussion as the chief guest.

President of Panchagarh Chamber of Commerce and Industry Abdul Hannan Sheikh, President of Customs Clearing and Forwarding Agents’ Association Rezaul Karim Reza and Banglabandha union Chairman Kudrat-e-Khuda Milan addressed as special guests.

Revenue Officer Banglabandha Land Customs Station Morshed Ali Chowdhury presented the keynote paper on the occasion narrating the importance of customs duty collection to enhance national economy.

The speakers lauded role of the customs officials, administration, police, Border Guard Bangladesh and all concerned in ensuring excellent managements at Banglabandha Land Customs Station leading to increase in revenue collection.

The chef guest said the highly prospective Banglabandha Land Customs Station is playing a vital role to expand regional and international trade and commerce with India, Nepal and Bhutan increasing revenue earning every year.

He said the Customs Division of Banglabandha Land Customs Station earned Taka 25.98 crore in last fiscal year against the target of Taka 24.33 crore.

“We have already collected over Taka 9.58 crore against the revenue collection target of over Taka 34.43 crore for the current fiscal year at Banglabandha Land Customs Station,” he added.
