Menon for publicizing history of 1969 mass upsurge

DHAKA, Jan 25, 2019 (BSS) – Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon today regretted that the history of the 1969 Mass Upsurge is not being publicized as a large-scale campaign attaching much importance to this historical milestone.

Speaking at a discussion entitled ‘From Shahid Asad to Mass Upsurge’ at Jatiya Press Club here, the former minister the self-sacrifice of Shahid Asad and the history of the Mass Upsurge have not yet included in the text books.

Menon said the history, created by the sacrifice of Asad‘s life, brought together workers, peasants, intellectuals and all others under the same row.

And Bangladesh emerged as an independent country as a sequel to the events of history, he added.

The blood stained shirt of Shahid Asad emerged as a symbol of the Mass Upsurge in 1969, said Workers Party chief.
