Biswa Ijtema to be held on Feb 15-17

DHAKA, Jan 24, 2019 (BSS) – Biswa Ijtema, the second largest congregation of Muslim community after Hajj, will be held in a single phase this year from February 15 to 17 instead of previous two-phase system.

State Minister for Religious Affairs Advocate Sheikh Md Abdullah stated this afternoon following a meeting with Tabligh Jamaat at his office.

Dawat-e-tabligh custodians in Bangladesh Mawlana Md Jubair, Mawlana Omar Faruque, Mawlana Syed Wasiful Islam and Khan Sahabuddin Nasim attended the meeting, among others.

Talking to journalists, the state minister termed the arrangement of Biswa Ijtema in Bangladesh as a prestigious matter for the country.

Abdullah said after holding talks with all concerned, decision has been made that this year the Biswa Ijtema will be arranged in a single phase with participation of all.

He also assured of taking stringent security measures and other necessary management for holding the Ijtema in a peaceful and proper manner as guests from home and abroad will join the annual gathering of Muslims on the bank of river Turag at Tongi in Gazipur district.
