Stocks close week up
DHAKA, Jan 24, 2019 (BSS) – Stocks closed the week on Thursday upward with rising trend of all major price indices at Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges.
The broader DSEX of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the week with 124.44 points up at 5,950.01. The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also closed the week with 39.52 points up at 2,049 and with 11.81 points up at 1,321.61 respectively.
Out of the 350 traded securities, 196 closed higher against 136 losing issues when 16 remained unchanged.
During the week, the top five gainers were Sonar Bangla Insurance, Far East Knitting and Dyeing Industries Limited, IFIC Bank, United Insurance Company and Agrani Insurance Company.
The five major losing companies were Northern Jute Manufacturing, SEML IBBL Shariah Fund, Sonali Aansh Industries, JMI Syringes and Medical Devices and SS Steel.
The top five turnover leaders were Premier Bank, United Power Generation and Distribution Company, United Finance, Dhaka Bank and Square Pharmaceuticals.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week up, with its major CASPI index ending 398.63 points higher at 18,265.83.
Like the DSE, most of the issues traded at the CSE closed higher when both the trade value and volume of shares increased.
