LAKSHMIPUR, Jan 23, 2019 (BSS) – Seven persons, including six members of a
family, were killed as a truck collided head-on with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw
at Ratonpur on Dhaka-Raipur highway under Sadar upazila of the district early
hours today.
The deceased were identified as Shah Alam (42), his wife Nasima (35) and
their son Omit (6), Shah Alam’s mother-in-law Shamsunnahar (62) Shah Alam’s
sister-in-law Rokeya (30) Rokeya’s son Rubel (22) and auto-rickshaw driver
Noor Hossain Sohag in Sadar upazila.
The accident occurred in the area around 5am when Chattogram bound goods-
laden truck collided head-on with a Lakshmipur-bound CNG-run auto-rickshaw,
leaving its six passengers and the driver dead on the spot, said officer-in-
charge (OC) of Chandraganj Highway Police Md Shahjahan Khan.
Police and fire service recovered the bodies from the spot and sent to
Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital morgue.
Police said Shah Alam’s son Nadim Mahmud Antor, member of Chandraganj unit
Chhatra league was injured in an attack by his rivals and admitted to Sadar
Hospital. Shah Alam along with his family met the tragedy while going to the
hospital for seeing his ailing son Nadim Mahmud Antor at the hospital.
