Mayor Mostafa seeks NGO role for urban development

RANGPUR, Jan 22, 2019 (BSS) – The non-governmental organisations (NGOs)
could play vital role in accelerating development in various sectors of urban
areas to improve standard of living of the backward slum communities.

Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa said this at a views-sharing
meeting arranged with representatives of different NGOs working for urban
uplifts at conference room of Rangpur City Corporation (RpCC) here on Monday
afternoon.

Presided over by Secretary of RpCC Abu Saleh Md Musa Jongi, executives
of different NGOs involved in implementing development programmes in the city
attended the event and discussed their various projects and future thoughts
for urban uplifts.

Mayor Mostafa lauded the NGOs for implementing uplift programmes in the
city aiming at accelerating progress in the health, education, sanitation,
environment, cleanliness, sewerage, waste and garbage management and many
other sectors.

“The joint efforts of RpCC and NGOs can execute various uplift
programmes even better to attain the same goal of improving standard of
living of the backward people living in urban slums to achieve the
sustainable development goals,” he said.

Mostafa urged the NGOs for extending their continuous support and
assistance to the RpCC authorities for ensuring smooth and balanced
development of the people living in the city, especially in the backward
slums areas.
