Noted musician Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul no more

DHAKA, Jan 22, 2019 (BSS) – Noted musician and freedom fighter (FF) Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul died of heart attack at the age of 63 at his Aftabnagar residence in the capital this morning.

He was taken to Universal Medical College and Hospital around 6 am, where the doctors declared him dead, hospital sources said.

Bulbul, the prominent music composer and singer, suffered cardiac arrest and died before he was taken to the hospital, the sources added.

The musician and composer of several famous patriotic songs was a proud recipient of the Ekushey Padak, the National Film Award and many other prestigious awards.

Sammilita Sangskritik Jote President Golam Kuddus said the body of Bulbul will be taken to the Central Shaheed Minar around 11 am tomorrow and will be kept there till 12.30 pm so that his fans and people from all walks of life can pay their last tributes to the noted lyricist.

He said the Namaj-e-Janaza will be held at the central mosque of Dhaka University after Zohr prayers where he will be given a guard of honor.

Later, he will be buried at the Martyred Intellectuals’ Graveyard in Mirpur, Kuddus added.

President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed profound shock at the death of Bulbul.

In separate condolence messages, the President and the Prime Minister prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.

The songs composed by Bulbul include Shob kota janala, Uttar dakkhin purbo poshchim, Shundar shubarno tarunyo labonyo, O amar aat koti phul, O majhi nao chhaira de.
