Policy reforms necessary for trade, investment: Tipu

DHAKA, Jan 21, 2019 (BSS) – Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi has said policy reforms, policy simplification and need-based policy formation are necessary for creating a business friendly environment.

“Policy reforms, policy simplification, need-based policy formation and upgrading polices are necessary for conducive business environment. RMG is our biggest export earner, no doubt, but we need to encourage diversification of products in line with finding other potential export items”, Tipu said while speaking at a meeting with DCCI’s newly-elected board members here today.

The newly elected board of directors of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) led by its President Osama Taseer called on the Commerce Minister at his secretariat office.

DCCI President Osama Taseer proposed for a comprehensive trade policy and automated tariff system for sustainable export development.

He also urged the minister to take necessary initiatives to sign free trade agreements with Sri Lanka and Malaysia as soon as possible.

DCCI Senior Vice-President Waqar Ahmad Choudhury, Vice-President Imran Ahmed and the Directors were present, among others, during the meeting.
