DHAKA, Jan 21, 2019 (BSS) – The Delegation of the European Union to
Bangladesh organised a solo musical performance of the noted Nazrul Giti
singer Shushmita Anis on Sunday as part of its policy to encourage cultural
cooperation with its partner countries.

The EU adopted a policy in 2016 to encourage cultural cooperation between
the EU and its partner countries. Through this event, the EU Delegation to
Bangladesh also paid respect to the work of the national poet of Bangladesh,
said a media release today.

Singer Shushmita Anis, who learned music from the legendary singer late
Firoza Begum, presented a wide array of famous pieces of Poet Kazi Nazrul
Islam for selected audiences comprising local politicians, diplomats stationed
in Bangladesh as well as Bangladeshi music connoisseurs.

The audience highly appreciated the performance of Ms. Anis.

The European Union deems that intercultural dialogue can build and promote
understanding within and between societies. It also helps to promote a global
order based on peace, the rule of law, freedom of expression, mutual
understanding and respect for fundamental values.
