Railways Minister for more connectivity with neighboring countries

DHAKA, Jan 20, 2019 (BSS) – Railways Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan today
said the rail connectivity with the neighboring countries as well as the
internal railway tracks will be increased.

“The government has plans to build a railway network with Myanmar. Then,
it will be easier to connect China through the railways. Eventually,
Bangladesh will be connected with Thailand and Malaysia through Trans Asian
route,” he said at a ‘meet the press’ programme at the Railway Bhaban in the
city.

Sujan also said two projects-Padma Rail Link and Dohazari-Cox’s Bazar-
Gundum Rail Link-of the ten fast-track mega projects of the Prime Minister’s
Delta Plan will be completed soon.

Besides, a feasibility study on the hi-speed train service on Dhaka-
Chattogram route is being carried out by the authorities concerned, he added.

Referring to the government stance of eliminating selling ticket in black
market, Sujan said the railway sector will be made more service oriented to
stop such illegal practice.
