UGC holds workshop for universities’ transparent, dynamic activities

DHAKA, Jan 20, 2019 (BSS) – A two-day long workshop on ‘Annual Performance
Agreement (APA) Management System’ for making the activities of the country’s
universities more transparent, dynamic and vibrant was began at University
Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh.

UGC Chairman Professor Abdul Mannan was present at the opening ceremony as
the chief guest, said a UGC press release.

While addressing the programme, Professor Mannan said the objectives of the
workshop are to make all concerned aware about the Annual Performance
Agreement and ensure good governance and excellence in performance of
tertiary level institutions.

He urged all to work accordingly for the sake of country’s development. “We
want to build result oriented educational institutions in Bangladesh,” he
added.

Professor Mannan also said there is no alternative to ensuring good
governance and eradicating corruptions. “UGC will show zero tolerance towards
corruption,” he warned.

UGC members–Professors Dr. Mohammad Yousuf Ali Mollah, Dr. Dil Afroza
Begum, Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain, Additional Secretary of Ministry of Education
Dr. Md. Khaled, UGC Secretary Md. Belayet Hossain Talukder addressed the
programme as special guests while UGC member Professor Dr. M. Shah Nowaz Ali
presided over the function.

Senior officials from Ministry of Education, Ministry of Cultural Affairs
and UGC were the resource persons at the workshop.

Registrars, focal points of APA of 40 public universities of the country
are participating in the workshop.
