Regional SME fair begins in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Jan 16, 2018 (BSS)- A weeklong ‘Regional SME Products Fair 2018’ began here yesterday afternoon with the main thrust of promoting local SME sector, enhance production of quality SME products, exhibition and introduction of SME goods for expanding business, trade and commerce.

In the fair, a spectrum of locally produced SME goods including leather products, jute-made products, handicrafts, processed agricultural products, electrical and electronic goods, clothes, design and fashion wares and other products are being exhibited in around 60 stalls.

SME Foundation and district administration jointly organised the fair at Rajshahi Collegiate School playground in association with BSCIC, Chamber of Commerce and Industry and NASIB.

Deputy Commissioner Helal Mahmud Sharif and Regional Director of BSCIC Engineer Ajharul Islam addressed the inaugural ceremony as chief and special guests respectively with Deputy Director of Local Government Division Parvej Raihan in the chair.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md Shalahuddin and Assistant General Manager of SME Foundation Suman Chandra Shaha also addressed the session illustrating salient feature of the fair.

The Chief Guest said the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has adopted various need-based measures for taking forward the SME sector.

The country has already achieved tremendous uplift in every sector with the participation of men and women on its way to become a middle income nation soon. Marking the inaugural programme, a colourful rally was brought out here and paraded different streets in the city.
