Dhaka turns into festive city with AL’s victory rally

DHAKA, Jan 19, 2019 (BSS) – In an extraordinary outpouring of tens of thousands of people, the historic Suhrawardy Udyan, reverberating with “Joy Bangla Slogan”, turned into a city of festivity as joyous and jubilant crowds celebrated the Awami League’s landslide election victory.

Almost all Dhaka city streets leading to the Suhrawardy Udyan witnessed thousands of people splintered into groups thronging to the victory rally venue to the delight of everyone present there.

The victory rally venue was filled up with huge crowds before schedule time for beginning of the event as the recent national election triumph led jubilant processions of leaders, activists and supporters of Awami League from different areas of the capital and its adjacent districts brimming with confidence and energy.

Wearing red-green T-shirts and caps the Awami League leaders and stalwarts were seen moving towards the rally by different modes of communication and chanting slogans underpinning the need for continuing the country’s march towards development and prosperity with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the helm.

Besides, manifesting joyful expressions by jubilant people, the entire Suhrawardy Udyan was echoed with melody when artistes particularly singers sang patriotic songs that infused inspiration and enthusiasm into the crowds.

The crowds were enjoying with rapt attention unique performance of the countries renowned singers, including Rafiqul Alam, Fakir Alamgir, Jane Alam and Salma.

Alongside patriotic songs, the noted singers highlighted different successes and remarkable achievements of Awami League government in the past 10 years.

Absorbed in the glaze of the December 30 national election, jubilant supporters, activists and leaders of Awami League welcomed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as she arrived on the decorated podium.

A festive atmosphere pervaded the entire victory rally when electoral theme song of Awami League was performed to greet AL President Sheikh Hasina when she took her seat on the stage.

Awami League general secretary Obaidul Kader read out a citation given to the Prime Minister for her successful leadership.

Awami League advisory council members Amir Hossain Amu and Tofail Ahmed, presidium members Matia Chowdhury and Muhammad Nasim, Liberation War Affairs Minister AK M Mozammel Haque, central Awami League leaders Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Abdur Rahman, AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Mirza Azam, MP, Sadek Khan, MP, Shah-e Alam Murad and Jubo League chairman Omar Faruk, addressed the rally, among others.

Awami League Publicity Secretary and Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud and Deputy Publicity Secretary Amiunul Islam conducted the rally while noted singer and parliament member Momtaj Begum enthralled the audience with her performance.
