SYLHET, Jan 18, 2019 (BSS)- A strong opening stand by Tamim Iqbal and Anamul Haque steered Comilla Victorians to earn a three-wicket over Khulna Titans in the 20th match of Bangladesh Premier League T20 held on Friday at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
With this win, Comilla Victorians secured eight points from six matches while bottom-ranked Khulna Titans remained at their previous credit of two points playing the same number of outings.
Chasing Khulna’s massive 182-run winning target, Comilla reached home making 186 for the loss of seven wickets.
The two openers Tamim Iqbal and Anamul Haque gave Comilla a flying start contributing 115-run for the opening stand before Lasith Malinga broke the stubborn partnership removing Tamim who smashed 42-balloff 73 runs hitting 12 boundaries and one over boundary.
Another opener Anamul Haque fell to Mahmudullah after scoring 37-ball off 40-run with the help of five boundaries.
However bowers brought back Khulna Titans in match picking up some quick wickets in the middle but Thisara Perera’s unbeaten 7-ball off 18 runs ensured Comila victory with two balls to spare. Junaid Khan was the pick of Khulna Titans bowler as he clamed four wickets conceding 32 runs.
Earlier, Junaid Siddique hammered a breezy half century helped Khulna Titans to amass a challenging total of 181 for 7 from their allotted 20 overs after they were forced to bat first by Comilla Victorians.
Khulna Titans suffered early batting jolt as they lost their opener Jahurul Islam for duck.
Another opener Junaid Siddique and Al Amin steadied the innings contributing 71-run for the second wicket stand to take the team to a comfortable position.
Junaid blasted 41-ball off 70runs hitting four boundaris and equal number of over boundaries and during the process he involved two important partnerships first 73-run with Al Amin (32) and then 50 runs with Dawid Milan (29) to take Khulna to a commanding position.
Shamsur Rahman was the most successful bowler as he claimed three Khulna’s wickets conceding 35 runs. He was well supported by Wahab Riaz who bagged two wickets giving away 34 runs.
