RMP seeks student’s support to make drug free society

RAJSHAHI, Jan 15, 2018 (BSS) – Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) officials
have sought student’s support to make the society free from drug and all
sorts of terrorism.

They said integrated efforts of police and common people, including
students, can root out the existing social menaces like child marriage and
violence against women.

They came up with the observation at a meeting, organised by RMP, at
Rajshahi College auditorium to mark the first founding anniversary of
Students Community Policing yesterday.

RMP Commissioner Mahbubor Rahman and Rajshahi College Principal Professor
Habibur Rahman addressed the meeting as chief and special guests respectively
with President of Students Community Policing Abdullah Al Noman in the chair.

RMP Deputy Commissioners Amir Zafar, Abu Ahmad and Al Mamun and college-
teacher Dr Samyasathi Bhowmik also addressed.

More than 1,000 students from different educational institutions, including
Rajshahi University (RU), Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology
(RUET) and Rajshahi College joined the meeting.

Rahman said the RMP has intensified the activities of community policing to
prevent crimes from the society, adding that community policing was very
important for resolving social problems and combating crimes.

He said joint efforts of police and people can curb anti-social activities
to build a crime-free society.

He stressed the need for boosting relationship between police and people
and exploring the opportunities of community policing for strengthening law
and order situation in the society.
