Sri Lankan, Nepalese envoys call on FM

DHAKA, Jan 17, 2019 (BSS)- Sri Lankan High Commissioner in Dhaka General A.W.J.C. De Silva and Nepalese Ambassador Dr Chop Lal Bhushal today separately called on Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen at the latter’s office here today.

During the meeting, Momen and Silva discussed the entire gamut of bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, said a media release.

Abdul Momen said Bangladesh government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina seeks to intensify relations with its neighbours including Sri Lanka.

He put emphasis on realizing the full potentials of the two countries in strengthening the relations on a win-win basis.

Momen emphasized on early conclusion of bilateral instruments including Coastal Shipping Agreement, Free Trade Agreement and Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of Investment Agreement.

The foreign minister wished the high commissioner a successful tenure in Bangladesh and assured all out support.

Outgoing Ambassador of Nepal Dr Chop Lal Bhushal paid a farewell call on Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen at the foreign ministry.

Referring to the priorities outlined by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Abdul Momen emphasized on Hydropower import from Nepal, establishing connectivity and increasing economic and trade relations between the two countries.

The outgoing Nepalese ambassador thanked Bangladesh government for the support during his tenure in Bangladesh.

The ambassador appreciated the tremendous growth and progress made by Bangladesh during the last ten years under the stable political environment and able leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
