Bangladesh achieves food autarky: Sadhan

NAOGAON, Jan 17, 2019 (BSS) – Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder today
said Bangladesh has already achieved food autarky and that is why it does not
need to import food grains.

“Price of food grains, particularly rice, now remains stable. Besides, good
quality of rice is also being supplied through like VGD and VGF,” he told
journalists after visiting Mohadevpur Upazila godown in the district.

Later, the food minister attended a reception programme organised by the
local Awami League (AL).

Chaired by Mohadevpur Upazila AL President Md Salim Uddin Tarafder, the
function was addressed, among others, by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md
Mubarak Hossain, District Food Controller Md Kamal Hossen and District
Council Member Md Moynul Islam Mayen.

Addressing the function, Sadhan Chandra said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina
announced the 21-point election manifesto of AL to change the fate of the
country’s people.

If all work in line with the election manifesto, he said, it is a matter of
time to build a Sonar Bangla dreamt by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
