Contribution of agriculture to economy increases gradually: Razzaq
DHAKA, Jan 17, 2019 (BSS) – Agriculture Minister Dr Md Abdur Razzaq today
said the contribution of agriculture sector to the national economy is
increasing gradually.
Alongside developing new technologies, skilled workforce should be created
for boosting crop production, he told a meeting at his ministry, an official
release said.
Agriculture Secretary Md Nasiruzzaman conducted the meeting. Senior
officials and project directors of the ministry, among others, were present
at the meeting.
Razzaq said the agriculture sector has witnessed a remarkable development
in the past 10 years as the government has implemented various development
programmes successfully. He urged officials and agriculture scientists to
invent new varieties of crops for coping with the adverse impacts of climate
change.
As many as 51 projects at a cost of Taka 1,712.65 crore for the fiscal year
2018-19 are being implemented in the country.
