Five DU teachers, 37 students get Dean’s Award

DHAKA, Jan 16, 2019 (BSS) – A total of 37 students of various departments
under the Faculty of Science of Dhaka University (DU) have been given ‘Dean’s
Award’ for their outstanding academic results in Bachelor of Science (BSc)
examination of 2015, 2016 and 2017.

Besides, five teachers of the Faculty of Science have received Dean’s Award
for their extra-ordinary contributions to original research and writing
books.

DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman distributed medals
and certificates among the recipients of the award as chief guest at a
function held today at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the
university.

Teachers who received Dean’s Award are – Prof. Dr. Samir Kumar Bhowmik,
Prof. Dr. M. Shafiqur Rahman, Prof. Dr. Tamanna Howlader, Associate Professor
Dr. Md. Anower Hossain and Assistant Professor Nabil Awan.

Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof. Dr. Mohammed Abdul Aziz presided over
the function while Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. Nasreen Ahmad,
Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Samad and Treasurer
Prof. Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin addressed it as special guests.

While addressing the function, Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman urged the
students to equip themselves with knowledge, moral values and non-communal
spirits.

He said, “The Dhaka University campus is a place of adequate opportunities
for all students and they should utilize these opportunities properly to
build their careers.”

He congratulated the awardees and their guardians and hoped that recipients
of this award would contribute to the development of the country in the days
to come.
