No irregularities in relief activities will be tolerated: Enamur

RANGPUR, Jan 16, 2019 (BSS) – State Minister for Disaster Management and
Relief Dr Enamur Rahman, MP, today said no irregularities in relief
distribution and implementation of development projects will be tolerated.

“Action will be taken against a person responsible for making false
committee related to any development project of Ministry of Disaster
Management and Relief,” he said.

The State Minister made these precautionary statements at a function
arranged for distribution of dry foods and blankets among the cold-stricken
poor and distressed people on Sakoa High School ground in Boda upazila of
Panchagarh today as the chief guest.

The minister distributed blankets, rice, edible oil, salt, flattened rice,
sugar and biscuits and candles and matches boxes among each of the 2,000
cold-hit, poor and distressed people of Boda and Debiganj upazilas of
Panchagarh in the function.

He also announced to allocate more 5,000 pieces of blankets in favour of
Panchagarh district administration, for distribution among the cold-hit
people of the district to mitigate their sufferings. Dr Enamur said,
“Bangladesh is marching forward under the able and visionary leadership of
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina (Bangabandhu’s daughter).

He sought cooperation of the administration and public representatives for
continuation of the massive development projects.

The state minister said around 32,000 families across the country, who
have land but not houses, would get pucca houses by June.

“Of them, 500 such families will get houses in Panchagarh district alone
and every house will have two bedrooms, a kitchen and a sanitary latrine,”
Enamur said.

He said allocations have been given for completing construction of 13,000
bridges (15-metre length each) under the Ministry of Disaster Management and
Relief at the earliest possible time to improve the rural communication
networks.

With Panchagarh Deputy Commissioner Sabina Yasmin in the chair, Md
Mozaharul Hoque Prodhan, MP, Secretary to the Ministry of Disaster Management
and Relief Md Shah Kamal, Director General of the Department of Disaster
Management Syed Mohammad Hashim, Panchagarh Police Super Giasuddin Ahmed,
General Secretary of Panchagarh district Awami League (AL) and Sadar upazila
Chairman Anwar Sadat Samrat, President of Boda upazila AL and Boda municipal
Mayor Wahiduzzaman Shuja, General Secretary of Boda upazila AL Professor
Faruk Alam Toby, General Secretary of Debiganj upazila AL and Debiganj
upazila Chairman Hasnat Zaman Chowdhury Judge, among others, addressed the
function.
