BCC gets two prestigious awards for innovation and excellence

DHAKA, Jan 15, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) has been
awarded two prestigious award by Open Group, a global consortium that enables
the achievement of business objectives through technology standards, for
developing online recruitment system and geospatial data sharing platform
GeoDASH.

In a letter issued by Hetal Sompura, Business Development Manager of the
Open Group to Deputy Director of Leveraging ICT for Growth, Employment and
Governance (LICT) Project of BCC Tarique M Barkatullah today informed about
getting the two awards, said a media release.

‘Open Group Kochi Awards 2019′ was given for developing e-recruitment
system in architecture enabled government transformation category and the
`Open Group Award for Innovation and Excellence-2019’ for developing GeoDASH
platform to share and collaborate geospatial data for government agencies.

Chief Minister of Kerala Shri Pinarayi Vijayan is expected to formally hand
over the award to representative of BCC on February 14, 2019 at Grand Hyatt
Kochi Bolgatty of India, said Hetal Sompura in her letter.

The Leveraging ICT for Growth, Employment and Governance (LICT) Project of
BCC of ICT Division developed the e-recruitment system for making recruitment
process of all government agencies online. The BCC in collaboration with
World Bank developed geospatial data sharing platform GeoDASH for government
agencies.

The Open Group gave award to organizations and individuals for innovations
and excellence in categories including Enterprise Architecture, IT
management, Security and Open Platform.

The Open Group Expert Panel selected BCC after a rigorous process and
evaluating innovations of large number of governments, industries and
academia from Asia, Australia, Africa and Middle East besides from various
States of India.

The Open Group Awards for Innovation and Excellence is limited to two
distinct levels and President’s award goes to those nominations in which
innovation and excellence were clearly demonstrated.

“The award of distinction goes to those nominations in which a clear path
towards effective innovative and excellent use of technology has been taken,
but the full benefits are yet to be realized,” said Sompura.
