500 eye patients get free treatments in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Jan 15, 2019 (BSS) – Some 500 poor eye patients received free
treatments at a daylong free eye camp followed by selection of patients for
free cataract surgeries at Rangpur City Corporation (RpCC) Bhaban premises
here on Monday.

The Deep Eye Care Foundation (DECF) with assistance of RpCC organised
the eye camp to provide free treatments and medicines to the poorer patients
of the city and select cataract patients for conducting their surgeries.

Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa inaugurated the eye camp on
the City Bhaban premises under the ‘Free Cataract Surgeries Project’.

Civil Surgeon Dr Abu Md Zakirul Islam Lenin, Secretary of RpCC Abu Saleh
Md Musa Jongi and its Chief Health Officer Dr Kamruzzaman Ibne Taz as special
guests attended the events moderated by Research Associate of DECF Feroz Alam
Saifullah.

City Councilors Mahbubar Rahman Manju and Nazrul Islam Dewani,
physicians, eye specialists and officials of DECF and RpCC were present.

Feroz Alam Saifullah narrated activities of the financially self-
supporting Deep Eye Care Foundation that provides services to the rich and
poor alike at its hospital located at Darshona area of the city.

He discussed principles of DECF to serve the suffering humanity by
providing high quality, large volume care and well-organised quality services
at price that everyone can afford and free of costs to the poorer section
people.

Mayor Mostafa appreciated the DECF initiative and hoped that the joint
collaboration and initiatives of DECF and RpCC would become successful to
provide quality treatments to all eye patients of Rangpur city.

After providing free treatment to the poor eye patients in eye camp, the
eye specialists selected 48 cataract patients, six patients suffering from
enlarged muscles in eyes and two others for conducting surgeries at their own
hospital.
