DSE turnover hits 14-month high

DHAKA, Jan 14, 2019 (BSS) – The daily turnover value at Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Monday crossed Taka 1,100 crore, the highest in around fourteen months, with higher activities of some large-cap securities.

The trade value at DSE increased to Taka 1,146.32 crore from the previous session’s Taka 973.94 crore. It was the highest turnover since Taka 1,158.50 crore on November 20, 2017. The daily trade also rose to 26.23 crore shares from 24.72 crore shares of the previous session.

The broader DSEX of the DSE finished the day with 23.98 points down at 5,836.23. The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 4.43 points down at 2,025.99 and with 3.29 points down at 1,326.58 respectively.

Out of the 345 issues traded at the DSE, 122 issues gained against 202 losing issues.

The top five gainers of the week were United Finance, USMANIAGL, Sonar Bangla Insurance, Agrani Insurance and GEMINISEA. The major losing issues of the week were United Air, Al Haj Textile, Padma Life, BXSYNTH and Rupali Life.

The top five turnover leaders were Olympic, KPCL, BBS Cables, Singer BD and JMISMDL.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with downward trend with its major CASPI 60.80 points down at 17,884.30.

CSE, issues traded 275 while 94 closed higher against 157 closed lower when 1.16 crore shares worth Taka 36.22 crore changed hands.
