Bangabandhu’s Homecoming Day observed in Khulna

KHULNA, Jan 10, 2018(BSS) – The historic Homecoming Day of Father of the
Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was observed today in a befitting
manner in Khulna city.

On January 10 in 1972, Bangabandhu returned to the independent and
sovereign Bangladesh after over nine and a half months’ captivity in a
Pakistan jail.

Khulna city and district units of Awami League and its associate
organisations observed the day with different programmes.

Marking the day, leaders and workers of the party hoisted national and
party flags atop the party office and placed wreaths in front of the
sculpture of Bangabandhu on the Khulna Press Club premises.

Besides, they held a discussion highlighting the life and works of
Bangabandhu along with his contribution to the nation’s War of Liberation.

Khulna district AL president Sheikh-Harun-ur Rashid chaired the meeting and
some front-ranking leaders including president and general secretary of city
AL Talukder Abdul Khaleque and Mizanur Rahman Mizan and parliament member of
Khulna-2 constituency Salam Murshedi, spoke on the occasion.

A Milad and doa mahfil was also held at the party office seeking blessings
for the departed soul of Bangabandhu.

Meanwhile, Swadhinata Sangbadik Forum, a platform of Pro-Liberation
Journalists, organised a discussion on Khulna Press Club premises marking the
day.

Earlier, leaders of the Forum led by KCC Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque
placed wreaths in front of sculpture of Bangabandhu on Khulna Press Club
premises.
