BIMSTEC, SAARC, PUIC greet Sheikh Hasina

DHAKA, Jan 8, 2019 (BSS) – Secretary Generals of BIMSTEC, SAARC and PUIC
today congratulated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on her assumption to the
office of the Prime Minister of Bangladesh for the third consecutive term.

In separate messages sent to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, they
expressed hope to work together with Bangladesh more closely in the coming
years for mutual benefits.

BIMSTEC Secretary General M Shahidul Islam in a message said: “Assumption
of the position of the Prime Minister of Bangladesh for the third consecutive
term is a demonstration of the people’s trust and confidence in your
leadership that has been constantly leading Bangladesh towards growth,
prosperity and stability”.

He said the growth and prosperity of Bangladesh under able leadership of
Sheikh Hasina is an important contributing factor in achieving BIMSTEC’s
objective of building a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable Bay of Bengal
region.

BIMSTEC is grateful to the Bangladesh government for hosting and
supporting its permanent Secretariat in Dhaka, he said, hoping that BIMSTEC
would continue to receive support of the Sheikh Hasina’s government in the
coming years.

Secretary General of Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC)
Muhamed Khouraichi NIASS hoped that the Union would have the continued
support of the parliament and the government of Bangladesh to serve the
Muslim Ummah.

He prayed to the Almighty Allah to grant health and growing success to
Sheikh Hasina in person and prosperity and glory of the people of Bangladesh.

SAARC Secretary General Amjad Hussain B Sial said appointment of Sheikh
Hasina to the high office for the fourth term is amply demonstrative of the
trust and confidence reposed in her leadership by the people of Bangladesh.

He said as the founding member of SAARC, Bangladesh continues to play a
constructive role in promoting regional cooperation in South Asia. “Several
important initiatives taken and the three historic summits hosted by
Bangladesh continue to guide the SAARC process even today.”

The SAARC Secretary General expressed her confidence that the
association would receive continued support and cooperation from Bangladesh
under Sheikh Hasina’s sagacious leadership in further deepening the SAARC
process to promote the welfare of the peoples of the region.
