Maritime ports advised to continue hoisting signal no 1

DHAKA, Jan 07, 2019 (BSS) – The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar,Mongla and Payra have been advised to continue signal number One (Rpt) One as the cyclonic storm “PABUK” weakened into a Deep Depression over southeast Bay and adjoining east central Bay.

“The deep depression over southeast bay and adjoining east-Central bay moved northwards and weakened into a depression over the same area,” a Met bulletin said today.

It was centered at 9 am today about 1045 km south of Chattogram port, 960 km south of Cox’s Bazar port, 1105 km south-southeast of Mongla port and 1040 km south-southeast of Payra port, the bulletin added.

It is likely to move further north or northeasterly direction and weaken gradually.

Maximum sustained wind speed within 44 kms of the depression centre is about 40 kph rising to 50 kph in gusts or squalls. Sea will remain rough near the depression centre.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further Notice. They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.
