Professor Ishaq passes away

DHAKA, Jan 9, 2018 (BSS) – Professor Mohammad Ishaq, former Head of the Department of Biochemistry, BSMMU and Department of Biochemistry & Physiology of Dhaka Medical College, died of old age complications on January 7 at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).

He was 85, family sources said.

He left behind his wife, two sons, three daughters and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.

His namaz-e-janaza was held today at 10 am at BSMMU mosque. He will be buried at his ancestral home at Gazra, Matlab North, Chandpur.

Prof Ishaq was one of the founders of ‘The Laboratory’, the most trusted Pathological Laboratory of its kind in the country. After doing his MBBS from Dhaka Medical College in 1959, he first joined as the Medical Officer of the then Bhola Sub-Division. Afterwards, he joined Dhaka Medical College as a Lecturer.
