Warm clothes distribution intensified among distressed people

GAIBANDHA, JAN 9, 2018 (BSS) – With deteriorating chilling condition due to cold wave here, district administration intensified warm clothes distribution among the distressed people last couples of days to mitigate their sufferings.

Officials at district administration today said district relief and rehabilitation office received a total of 56,495 pieces of blankets from the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief this season to distribute those to the cold victims of the district.

The blankets are being distributed to the cold hit distressed and poor people of all the seven upazilas in the district under the direct supervision of upazila administration and local government bodies including social organizations, said district relief and rehabilitation officer AKM Idris Ali.

Sadar UNO Alia Ferdous Khan said the warm clothes were distributed going at the doorsteps of the cold affected poor people including aged women in all the 13 unions of the upazila.

Talking to the BSS, deputy commissioner (DC) Gautam Chandra Pal said instructions were given to the upazila administrations and local government bodies to distribute the blankets among the victims properly.

The DC also urged the well off sections of the society and different socio- economic organizations of the country to stand beside the cold affected people here with the mentality to distribute warm clothes to them as part of social responsibility.
