Stocks close week up with higher transactions

DHAKA, Jan 3, 2019 (BSS) – Stocks closed the week on Thursday upward with rising trend of all major price indices at Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges on higher transactions.

The daily average trade value at DSE was 90.10 per cent up at Taka 717.18 crore and the trade volume was 23.50 per cent up at 20.70 crore shares.

The broader DSEX of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the week with 204.83 points up at 5,590.47. The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also closed the week with 61.21 points up at 1,941.99 and with 38.54 points up at 1,271.36.

Out of the 350 traded securities, 310 closed higher against 28 losing issues when 12 remained unchanged.

During the week, the top five gainers were SAVAREFR, BXSYNTH, CNATEX, United Insurance and JMISMDL. The five major losing companies were Pragati Life, AIBL1stMF, Jamuna Oil, National Life Insurance and Glaxo Smith.

The top five turnover leaders were BBS Cables, Beximco, PTL, Saiham Cotton and Ifad Autos.

Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week up, with its major CASPI index ending 744.63 points higher at 17,194.14.

Like DSE, most of the issues traded here closed higher when both the trade value and volume of shares increased.
