11 killed after truck hits car, three-wheeler in India’s Uttar Pradesh

NEW DELHI, Jan. 8, 2018 (BSS/Xinhua) – At least 11 people were killed after a goods truck crushed a car and a three-wheeler in northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, officials said Monday.

The accident took place on highway at Sirsaganj police station in Firozabad district, about 257 km west of Lucknow city, the capital of Uttar Pradesh.

“In a tragic accident last evening a speeding truck hit a car and three- wheeler killing 11 people,” a senior police official Manoj Kumar told media. “Those who have lost their lives include, two women, a boy, six men and two children.”

Police have registered a case and ordered investigations to ascertain the actual reason behind the accident.

Preliminary investigations carried out by police suggest over-speeding as the cause behind the accident.
