Voters in Khulna cast vote amid festivity

KHULNA, Dec, 30, 2018 (BSS) – All the constituencies of Khulna has turned a
vote festival as thousands of voters thronged different centres to franchise
their rights.

It was found that a huge number of voters were waiting in long queue for
casting their votes at several polling centres in Khulna-2 and Khulna-3
constituencies.

After casting vote at the city’s Ahsanullah College, Awami League
candidate Sheikh Salahuddin Jewel, nephew of Father of the Nation, said
people casted votes peacefully amid with fanfare and festivity.

“Voters become happy as EVM system is very easy to cast vote,” he said.

Replying to a question over BNP candidate’s allegation, the AL candidate
Jewel said, “Complain of BNP candidate Nazrul Islam candidate is not true”.

Earlier, BNP candidate Nazrul Islam Manju, alleged that voting environment
did not prevail in the city.

Talking to newsmen, Khulna Returning Officer Md Helal Hossain said voters
cast their votes with festive mood.

“Male, female and young voters are casted their votes with fanfare and
festivity,” he said.

Quoting voters, Helal, also the deputy commissioner of Khulna, said many
voters were against EVM. After casting votes in Khulna-2 constituency, they
expressed that they opposed this system without understanding about EVM.

“I have not received any complain during my visit at least 15 to 20 centres
from 7:45 am,” he said.
